Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles PREMIER CRU

Vineyards situation

From Beaune, Nuits Saint Georges is the first big village of the Côte de Nuits, just after Prémeaux Prissey and before Vosne Romanée. Both villages of Nuits and Prémeaux Prissey produce wines with the Nuits Saint Georges appellation.

The Premier Cru "Les Cailles" is situated in the South part of the village of Vosne, close to Prémeaux Prissey, surrounded by the "Saint Georges" and the "Porrets" vineyards, with the "Vaucrains" premier cru above. This is an ideal place in the middle of the slope, on a well drained soil, quite light.

Wine making

This wine is fermented in opened vats (destemed grapes) for 3-4 weeks in order to obtain an optimal expression of the soil, and then aged 18 months in oak barrels.

Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy

With a deep ruby colour, the Nuits Saint Georges "Les Cailles" is a wine that is not very strong, it is well structured, with a nice colour. It shows red fruits and spices aromas. Its tannins are ageing very well. It will perfectly match grilled and roasted red meat or in sauce and with most delicate cheeses.

It can be kept between 10 and 15 years following the vintage and in good cellaring conditions.
