Vineyards situation

The Nuits-Saint-Georges A.C. wines are produced on land delimited by the villages of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Premeaux-Prissey. The soils are basically composed of limestone and marl. The name "cras" comes from "Craie" : which means chalk, consisting of a more chalky soil than the other premiers crus. A perfect exposure to the East gives the capacity to produce splendid wines.


«Les Cras» vineyards is bordering the Premier Cru vineyard of "les Boudots", close to Vosne Romanée, at the northern edge of the Nuits Saint Georges appellation.

Wine making

This wine is fermented in vats for 3-4 weeks and then aged 15 months in oak barrels before bottling.

Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy

Maison Louis Jadot produces a characteristically firm and full-bodied Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru « Les Cras». Rich and vigorous on the palate, with a deep, pungent bouquet, it shows elegance and acquires a mellow depth and softness with bottle age. It will be a good partner for red wine sauces, and roasted game, medium tasting cheeses.


This wine will age easily for 12-15 years in good conditions of temperature and humidity.
