The village of Pommard is situated between Volnay to the South and Beaune to the North. Pommard is on a slope, between 240 and 380 metres, facing east or south-east.
Pommard can only be red. There is no grand cru wines.
The "Les Pezerolles" is situated in the northern part of the commune, near Beaune vineyards and just over "Les Epenots" vineyards.
The fermentation takes place in tanks during 3-4 weeks, after which they are aged in barrel for 12-15 months before being bottled.
Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy
The clayey calcareous soil gives the wine a deep red-black colour and an intense bouquet of red fruits, with good tannins. In terms of style, Pommard 1er Cru « Les Pezerolles » is a rich, round and powerful wine.
It will be a perfect partner for quite strong cuisine : entrecôte steak in wine, strong cheeses ...
The best time for drinking it is after 5 years up to 20-25 years.
