The village of Saint-Aubin produces mainly white wines but also some reds, such as Les Frionnes.
This wine comes from a vineyard which matures a little slower. It is south-east oriented at the end of the valley behind the village of Gamay.
This vineyard is located in a rather windy place and it needs some patience before harvesting the grapes.
The destemmed grapes ferment during about 4 weeks before aging in oak barrels (1/3 of new barrels) during 18 months.
Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy
The wines are dense, with a very nice and deep colour. The nose is spicy with aromas of licorice.
This wine is pleasant when it is young but it can also age well 7 years and more.
